Pete Sessions Statement on December Jobs Report

Statement

Date: Jan. 10, 2014
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX-32), Chairman of the House Rules Committee and a Member of House Republican Leadership, today released the following statement regarding the December unemployment report:

"Today's weak jobs report, which shows job creation in a single month at its lowest in nearly three years, highlights the fact that the Obama economy fails to meet the needs of the American people. At a time when the labor force participation rate is at its lowest in 35 years and 5.6 million people between 18 and 34 are out of work, the Administration should focus on promoting legislation to spur job creation.

"In the 113th Congress, House Republicans have passed dozens of job-creating bills that would ease regulatory burdens, promote energy independence, and strengthen our economy. Unfortunately, Senate Democrats refuse to consider any of these pro-growth policies. In the New Year, House Republicans remain committed to fighting for solutions that create opportunity so that the American people can get back to work."
